Yes, I am reading these out of order. The library gods have demanded it be so. I don’t think that detracts from the story in any way except spoiling which couples get together, but you already know that if you’ve read any book synopsis. So if you find one of this series at your local library feel free to pick it up!

I don’t know why, but Ana Huang has me in a chokehold with her books. I read this book in one day, the same day I finished reading King of Wrath. Normally I don’t love a second chance romance…but what I do love? Grovelling. And Dom has a LOT to make up for. Am I a horrible person for enjoying his suffering? Probably, but it’s so satisfying

Miss Ana Huang always eats when it comes to redemption. If youre tryna get your partner back after messing up BIG TIME then read this book for real.

Alé and Dom have been married for 10 years and this man started to SUCK, and he messed up big time. This book is about Alessandra finding herself after being hurt and not standing up for herself. After making her marriage and her husbands business her whole life, she decided she needed to do something for HERSELF. Meanwhile, Dom used to be broke so he was focused on that bag, BUT, he was SO focused on that bag he stopped focusing on his wife. Thats when he messed up. He spends the entire book tryna lock in [without spoiling].

So many other things happen...mysteries and all that. I really do think Ana Huang could be a mystery author if she really wanted to. This book ate down.

My favorite character was Marcelo.

I feel like this book tried too hard. I’m all for a good second-chance romance, a good grovel. Somehow, with Dom and Alessandra, those tropes didn’t quite hit the mark. Maybe because there wasn’t a lot of time between the end and the rekindling. Dom never really let her go and experience a life apart from him. He was always there, and it began to feel like he was wearing her down, rather than earning her back.

I did like that she wasn’t afraid to call things done. Alessandra did finally do things for her, but there was less time spent on her changes and more on what she wanted Dom to change. Which, he did need a wake-up call. But I think she did a little too.

And the flashbacks felt like they were interrupting the story. Along with the whole Roman plot line. That felt superfluous. There was enough going on without needing to have some mysterious corporate espionage-like scenario randomly playing out in the background.

I feel like, after King of Wrath, none of the couples in this series have clicked as well as Dante and Vivian. Not as well as the Twisted couples. The stories are still good, but there is something missing, a lack of spark.

Loved the grovelling of Dominic, and satisfying enough ending

this sort of proves that i will never be a fan of second-chance romances - also maybe just me but dom didn't really have a fleshed-out personality?
