I got this as a free download from Tor as part of their newsletter. I should have bought this book months ago.

The science is pretty soft, but it very quickly gives you the hook for the overall story, and the b story, the intrigue comes along for the ride.

Good storytelling, pretty quick read, check it out NOW!

Snappy as fuck. Political. Morally grey but likeable characters. Respectful and balanced portrayal of women wielding power in society . Scalzi got my number on this one.

Somehow I always seem to forget that I love Scalzi's writing. It is clever, fast, funny and it reminds me of my favourite tv shows like "the Newsroom" and "Firefly".
The series shows great promise and I will read the coming installments furiously. Although I doubt it will be as awesome as "Old Man's War", it might just be awesome in a different way.

Scalzi is one of my favorite sf authors and The Collapsing Empire is the perfect example why:
❤️ Colorful lifelike characters
❤️ Subtle humor
❤️ Intriguing plot
I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

I think this is my favorite Scalzi book so far! It was fast-paced, had some great intrigue, and wonderful characters. I would like to be Kiva when I grow up.

Good story but my expectation was more action, not so much political description.

Really engaging story - though it takes a little while for it to come together. Excited to read the next one.

Content warning for those that care - there is a lot of explicit language.
