I'm a sucker for the subtleties of an elegant, meticulously written prose, plus the creative way a writer feeds my head with ideas that will probably sound humdrum when discussed by a reluctant professor in a four-walled room, which leads to me officially falling in love with Thomas Mann in this collection. Death in Venice is a work of art, but the other stories in this book are worth reading too (SO DON'T SKIP THEM, YOU).

I'm personally placing Tristan, The Joker, Little Herr Friedemann and Tonio Kröger beside Death in Venice as the latter's equals.
