I liked the epilogue more than anything else in the book. The book dragged at times and definitely could’ve been shortened. I find the switching POVs within paragraphs to be confusing. We hop from perspectives similar to the writing style in the first book, but I found it harder to follow this book. I would’ve preferred for the split POVs to be clearly bound/divided in chapters, or for there to only be one or two POV so we weren’t so omnipresent. I also feel this prequel was a little not necessary for world building because we already know a lot of stuff from the first book, and this book didn’t add much until the last chapter (and the epilogue).
This book gives an interesting topic to think about, but I don’t think it was very well executed.

My favorite part of this book was the ending. Up until the last hour or so of the audiobook, it was a “take it or leave it“ kind of book. But the ending was so good to pull together both books, and it ended hopefully which I didn’t expect. That really added a lot of value to the overall story for me and I really enjoyed it.

Otherwise, for the most part, The Boy on the Bridge feels very much like a slightly different version of the first book. It doesn’t have enough merit stand apart. But that ending was solid.

Didn't like it as much as The Girl with All the Gifts; that will always have a place in my heart. Still, this was great.
