Ew. I’m so sick to my stomach after finishing this. First of all it took me almost to the end to even get interested in this book. I never DNF a book. And then when everything comes out. Ew. Nope nope nope.

Pretty good tale this one!
I’d like to say I figured it out … I did, but only when there was a big flashing arrow pointing at it!
It moved on at a decent pace. I liked the dual time lines interweaving.
I didn’t love the main character or the ending to much which spoiled it a bit for me. But overall not too shabby.

Liked it but didn’t love it, I wasn’t super captivated until about the last 50 pages. I did appreciate that it wasn’t super confusing like some others that are based in the UK.

2.5 ⭐️
This is one of the only times I wasn’t the biggest fan of feeney’s writing. I just wasn’t too sure about the plot if I’m honest. I felt it wasn’t as gripping as the rest of her books.

I felt as though it was very unbelievable and somewhat laughable which I don’t tend to think when I’m reading / listening to a thriller. This book was a miss for me

Nonetheless I did not see the twist coming !!

honestly did not expect this to be rated so low, the plot twist was cheap and not very thought out. i jokingly guessed it and was annoyed. the first two hundred pages had me invested, shame it fell off.

Solid novel until the twist at the end. Aimee is taken as a young child from a poor disturbing family and lives with John and Maggie. It isn't a great time and eventually Maggie and John are killed or so we think. John actually survived and is put in jail. Aimee is raised in foster homes. She grows up and is a movie star. She is married to Ben. She loved him but now wants a divorce because she thinks he is cheating on her. The novel begins with him missing. Eventually Aimee is charged with his murder when the body of Ben Bailey is found buried in the back yard. Only this man has been dead for 2 years and is not the man Aimee was married to. Turns out she is married to a man who is her brother. Who is angry at her for not coming back to him after Maggie died. The end also makes you believe that maybe he was pretending to be Alicia as well and got his sister pregnant?

The ending ruined the entire book. The detailed child abuse and animal abuse was hard to stomach, but I could handle it. The incest on the other hand… why? For what?! And then the pregnancy? Absolutely not. I actually did enjoy reading this story and it was suspenseful enough that it made me want to keep going, but the ending had me more disgusted than anything and not in a good way.
