It was a great book that had many of the literary cliches that Iove but it felt a bit long and like it wouldn't end. I recommend it anyway, it got me out of a reading block
I thought that Alden mentioning he was somewhere on the ace spectrum was a bit thrown in and honestly it could have been done differently

I wanna marry this book. Slow burn gay rivals to lovers set with gaming. What could be better <3

It was okay but better read something else. The representation was sloppy and the characters acted like they were 13.

Very cute. It was a pretty fun and easy read, so good for something light but the duo POV's sounded very similar so I had to go back and check who's perspective I was reading. It was enjoyable but didn't really leave me with any strong emotions.

Aldin and Conrad are rivals, game shop regulars, are two of the biggest stars to come from the online oddyssey (basically magic the gathering, but without the copyright violations that come with calling it magic) gaming community. So when tickets to a tournament with the opportunity to go pro come along, they jump at the chance to play. Unfortunately, they need to drive from New Jersey to Las Vegas for the tournament. Together.

I always like a good road trip story, but this one didn't really work for me.  In order for an enemies to lovers story to make sense, the rivalry needs to be something petty, or a misunderstanding. However in conventionally yours, they didn't have a petty rivalry, or a rumor that separated them, they just looked at each other and always assumed the worst, they were both being huge jerks for no reason.

One thing that did work for me was the diversity. There was a side character that used they/them pronouns and a main nuerodivergent character with anxiety.

A bit of the road trip, and a lot of the ending really dragged for me. It just seemed like more time jumps would have moved the story along more consistently.

Conventionally, yours wasn't the book for me. But if you are a huge magic the gathering fan or love conventions, I think it might be fun to nerd out a bit with this book. I feel like its a 2.5 star read
