This book shows an extremely real, tense and emotionally raw account of growing up and living in rural Ireland. Themes of isolation, parental expectations, parental relationships and marriage. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an insight into Irish life and culture in the late 1900s, early 2000s.

Como todas as coleções de short stories uma são mais ao nosso gosto que outras.
Em geral Claire Keegan mantém-se uma autora indispensável na minha lista com uma escrita intimista que nos faz sentir na ação ainda que apenas como observador.

Some stories are 5/5 while one or two are 4s. More stories than not end up lodged firmly in your mind. A desperately good writer.

Walking the Blue Fields is a collection of short stories. As with all collections some stories left more of a mark on me than others but all had me impressed by Keegan’s ability to craft a tale and her way with words. Her ability to say so much, to create such memorable fully rounded characters with such absorbing backstories and dilemmas once again amazed me.
