A mentally ill man gets an idea in his head that he can just go and ahead and commit murder, and then proceeds to suffer the consequences of his actions.

Enjoyed the glimpse we get in the everyday life, back alleys, and taverns around the time the book was written. All the characters were lively and really fleshed out as well.

Overall I can’t say I wasn’t bored at times reading this and that it didn’t take me a good while to finish because of that, but glad I pushed through and finished.

I can't bring myself to appreciate this. There's no mystery, no suspension, nothing to keep me interested. It's way too long and the description of women felt really problematic to me.
