4.5 stars. The male lead in this story has serious mental health issues due to being a slave to a sadistic mistress. He has been introduced to the reader as a very sympathetic secondary character in the author’s previous books in this series and it was almost a relief to see him find peace for himself and a mate.

The female lead has also had her life dictated to her, by a prophecy that her people expected her to fulfill.

Their relationship develops in a high pressure situation but is eased by the male lead’s confidence that they belong to/with each other and his willingness to facilitate for it.

The story is dual POV, well written and edited, and genuinely tear-jerking in a number of places. A beautiful story.

I really enjoyed Virius and Zahara story. This is a story filled with romance, danger and a prophecy. Emotions are raw with a ride range of emotions. Virius and Zahara have incredible chemistry that is sizzling and palpable. Very engrossing read!

Although it has plenty of steam, this book comes over as sweeter and more humourous than earlier books in the series. The two main characters seem such an unlikely pairing yet somehow it works and you can’t help feeling invested in their story. The humour is a little quirky and tongue in cheek and just works so well with this story. What a great book!
