What a graceful, elegant collection of poems about taking the first steps into parenthood. Here are some lines I loved from “Lighter”: “I no longer want what I wanted/ before. As when one day you look upon/ the house you’ve built and can’t recall the field.”

The poems in this collection read like a series of beautifully described snapshots. I only wish that Falconer had chosen to go more in depth with some of them — I found myself wanting more than what was given.
