Stunning, just stunning. Gorgeously presented, with an ingenious fold out of the march which effectively presents the slow unfurling of the extent of the protest.
So much to say about the situation in 21st Century Britain by using a narration of the struggles of the oppressed in early 20th Century. This is simply the most important comic of 2022.

A brilliant graphic interpretation of the original text and a reminder of what those incredible women went through to secure the vote for women.

CW - force feeding
While the illustrations of this graphic novel are excellent, and make this an interesting book to pick up, they are let down by the original source material that this book is adapted from.
There is a reason that Constance Maud's novel is not well known, and is no longer published today, and it's that it's a not very well written and at times boring tale of the fight for women's suffrage. It would likely have been a good read when it was published in 1911, as the fight for the vote was still ongoing, but over 100 years later there are many better books to read in order to learn about the Suffragettes.
It's worth picking up this book to flick through and enjoy the graphic element, but I wouldn't bother reading the story itself.
5 stars for Sophie and Scarlett, 1 star for Constance.
A note to add that I have studied and am very knowledgeable about the Suffragettes, and my opinions on this book are definitely influenced by that. If you have much less knowledge of the suffrage movement you may find this book a lot more enjoyable.
