This Xmas book is cute. It’s like a spicy hGTV hallmark movie. I liked a lot about the book:
- Cat is a strong FMC
-Noah is a single Dad
-I love HGTV fixer upper shows so that works for me
-small town charm
-not overly Xmas spirit and magic to fix everything
What I struggled with:
- Noah was misogynistic at times in his arguments to not have his daughter be a certain way and it was irritating.
- I’m sorry but most places that were destroyed by a storm and their residents needed help, would just accept the free labor even if it’s coming with strings of the TV filming so Noah arguing against it was weird.

I liked this one; reading the growth of their relationship and chemistry together was fun, and throw in a big town construction project, with Cat as a strong, confident BOSS, and it was great. Good Christmas vibes without being too sugary sweet or religious.
Graphic: Sexual content
Moderate: Alcohol and Misogyny
Minor: Child abuse

I enjoyed Mr Fixer Upper when I read it earlier this year but decided to keep this one till nearer to Christmas but this just wasn’t for me. I found myself getting bored about halfway through when it felt like nothing was happening to progress the story, felt like a lot of going round in circles. I didn’t warm to Noah who spent far too long judging Cat despite not knowing her and ignoring everyone telling him he was wrong.
Graphic: Sexual content
Moderate: Eating disorder
Minor: Addiction, Child abuse, Sexual harassment, and Abandonment
There is no mention of Cat having an eating disorder but her relationship with food, i.e. constantly restricting what she’s eating in order to maintain her shape, could be triggering to those with eating disorders/in recovery.
