so... She met her destiny. Or the destiny met her?
I'm happy and a little sad that it's the end...

Oh my god, the feels! I found that the way this book evolved was a very appropriate end of the series, and I can say that I was almost disappointed with the end until the last chapter! So happy that Elena and Damon found each other again in an alternate future!

i'm—speechless, at this point. truly. i don't even know what to say about all this, other than maybe repeating myself for the nth time—this one will be the last though, at the very least, seeing as i'm finally done with this series from hell!
i get that i'm way far from any point in my life where i could have enjoyed “the vampire diaries”, i get that these books are old and that generally—this is simply how l. j. smith writes. but god, was this bad. and annoying, most of all.
like—what do you mean we get to see a story, and relationships, evolve for thirteen (13) books or so only for everything to be scrapped right at the very end? as soon as i figured out where exactly l. j. smith intended to take this, i was fuming. who does that? i hoped until the very last second that elena wouldn't succeed in changing the past / future, but alas she did and what came out of it was an epilogue that made little to no sense.
i'm not even going to touch on the matter of elena ending up with the guy she had two books—out of thirteen, again!—worth of interactions max...

after reading this last book in the series i can say im a little disappointed with the ending. i mean i like who she ends up with but i cant help wishing that there was maybe a epilogue or something that explained a little more about what happened with them after. while reading i kept getting pissed at elena because of her decisions but it was a good book and i enjoyed it :)

"I still think she should have ended up with her friend instead. That was the first ending, you know, and the test audiences hated it so much that they reshot it."

I AM LAUGHING MY ASS OFF RIGHT NOW. This quote is transparent af. This last trilogy was an attempt to rewrite the mistakes they made in The Hunters. They really pressed the reset button on Elena's life so she could end up with the person she was originally supposed to be with before the ghostwriter fucked everything up. Unfortunately this book was a lame redo, and the ending was extremely unsatisfying. I'm so glad to be done with this series. The last 6 books were AWFUL and I will be erasing them from my mind just like everything in Elena's life was erased after the first book. It's ridiculous the lengths Alloy had to go to with this series just to insure thay Elena could realize that her soulmate had been a stepping stone in love but she was always meant to merge with her twin flame. That's what L.J set up from the get go and they fucking fired her and gave us this ghostwritten bullshit with lame plots and a boring "love story"! Wtf were they thinking?!? Sigh. This series could have been perfect if they let it play out the way L.J Smith intended it to but now it will forever be one of the most disliked set of books I have ever read. #ThankGodIt'sOver

By the time I finally got to this book, I was so sick of them going back in mofoing time. How many times do you think you can do that? Also what, just f*** the existence that existed when she died? I get it, the new one is “better” but wtf happened to Stefan in “new” reality??? Now I AM a Damon fan, but still. This was all just so…ugh.

I think that we can say now that this was it. No more vampire diaries episodes. No more vampire diaries books. This was the very last book of the very last trilogy and yes, if they really want to they can write a new trilogy, but the book didn't feel like it was planned to leave that option open. It felt like it was written to end the series for once and for all.

It's weird to rate this book. The fact that all it took were a few hours to read the entire book says something about the writing style and that the story kept me on the edge of my seat. It was nice to have a flashback to how this story started, with some nice nods in there and with enough changes to keep it interesting. It was nice to go back to the characters I fell in love with, all those years ago, and to see how different their lives could have been if only Damon and Stefan had not been a huge part of their lives.

I'm not a huge fan of hard resets. I'm not a huge fan of undoing your entire story. I don't want people to wake up and realize it was a dream. I don't want people to walk through some gate and get back at the beginning, but somehow this didn't feel that wrong, not as wrong as I feared it would be. For some reason I felt like the characters deserved this. For me they could have left out the last page, but all in all, I'm less disappointed than I thought I would be.

I'll miss you guys. I'll miss you all. Long live rewatches and rereads.
