A good mystery during the London Burkers capture and trial. The mystery itself wasn’t too hard to figure out, but the sense of paranoia and fear that infused London at the time was evoked well in Kiera and Gage’s story. Overall, an enjoyable read that kept my attention.

Please, Anna Lee Huber, I beg you: Make the plot of the next Lady Darby book about ANYTHING other than her backstory. There are 7 books now in this series and literally 6/7 has Kiera basically being blamed for the crime due to her backstory. Thankfully, last book we got more of Gage, but I can't possibly stand it again.

Due to the similarities in the crimes, this book really just felt more like the first book all over again. We had more of Gage's valet and Kiera's maid in this book, but for the most part, this book felt like a step backward for the series, which had so recently finally moved on from rehashing this plot AGAIN in the 5th book.

Despite being about bodysnatchers and murder, this book was really enjoyable. It just felt like a relaxing vacation. I love Kiera and Gage's world. It was entertaining and emotionally satisfying.

ETA: Aaaand, I just realized I never read book #6. How did I miss that?? Even so, the characters felt solid. I guess I can forgive myself for not remembering some of the plot details and character names!

3.5, if it wasn't for the overly descriptive style I would give it a 4. It wasn't as predictable as previous installments.

Yes, yes, 1000 time yes!

This book was a worthy addition to the Lady Darby series. It takes her back to the metephorical scene of the crime for her scandal, and immerses her in a world she had hoped to leave behind. The scandal is still there, but with the help of some old and new friends, she learns how to hold her head high and turn the tide of opinion back in her favor.

I loved the full circle moment of her using what horrific things her husband did to her into the new mystery of the "body snatchers". Sebatian *swoon* Gage is a worthy companion of our heroine, and the mystery they solve further cements their bond.

I enjoyed this book immensely.
