Kings of the Wyld is a fun, sometimes crass, sometimes non-sense fantasy book. I had fun listening to the audiobook. It was very well narrated - would recommend.

Loved this book. It had lots of the usual tropes of the genre--definite Role-Playing Game influences in the genre, but he had such a fresh take on some things. The idea that the characters are in a band, and that the adventuring party band works just like a rock band. The cussing was perfect.

His world-building took established things and added fun wrinkles and twists. Completely believable as a world, maybe more so than some other fantasies as these guys were old and out of the game, and the story plays to that--to the challenges that brings, and they were rough around the edges and talked like construction workers or guys in metal band might talk.

Each character was fully realized with his or her own personality, failings, strengths and motivations. Almost every character was interesting enough to believe they could carry their own story as the protagonist. The setting was painted with enough strokes to put you there but not so over-detailed as to become boring or overwhelming for the reader.

Definitely putting Eames on my list of authors to watch and continue to read

Alot of great references to tabletop and other fantasy series. A great "party of heroes" story, but don't expect anything super profound.

Holy shit this book is amazing. The characters are excellent, the humor is there. The metaphor of adventuring parties being 80s rock bands is nuanced, obvious, and hilarious.

Can I just say how much I hate this book. I finished it over two weeks ago and I'm now sitting on the struggle bus trying to find another humorous fantasy of such high caliber. Uuuuuugggghhhhhhhhh I'm going on strike
