This book was good from the beginning! The story line was so interesting that you had to keep reading, and those moments of suspense made my heart stop. The twist and turns and final reveal was so incredibly written that you really had no clue what to expect.
The ending was my favorite part. It was so funny cause I was literally asking myself... what happened to aiden? Well that’s what happened
I also loved Faradays and Maddie’s relationship. He was just such a father to her I felt like they were closer than Donny and Maddie were and I loved that.

Maddie can see death dates on foreheads through close proximity or photos... so I thought I was going in for a paranormal read, yet the story is essentially a murder mystery. There is tension, suspense and lots of clues. I did see the red herrings and the foreshadowing of events to come but I didn't guess the real killer.

Some of the FBI agents and teachers were profoundly unprofessional toward Maddie and didn't seem to ring true at times. But that's just me. I know, I should suspend disbelief if I can take on board a young girl with the gift or curse of seeing death dates. Anyway, When is entertaining with a likeable main character.

*I received a free ARC of When from Disney Hyperion via Netgalley in exchange of an honest and unbiased review*

Not completely my cup of tea. The mystery with the serial killer was well done, but the numbers thing didn't work for me. Full review to come soon.

Maddie has always seen numbers when she looks at people's faces, even in photographs, for a as long as she can remember. Her family doesn't realize what this means however until her father is killed on the exact date that she drew in a family portrait. Once her father dies her mother slides into alcoholism and Maddie uses her ability to earn some money for the family through telling people death dates. While everything in Maddie's life is certainly less than perfect, she and mom are able to get by more or less, until a murderer targets the town.

A great little thriller of a YA novel!
