Really love Oscar Wilde’s writing, liked this more than Dorian Grey. I think I’ll have to read more Wilde Non-Fic

A lot of meandering. Sometimes to the point of boredom. But it’s unedited so you can’t criticise the pacing much. The language was beautiful though.

Can't give this less than five stars. Knowing that Oscar wrote this while in prison while he was overcome with grief made this a challenging read. This is powerful and poignant. A must-read for all Oscar Wilde fans. A must-read for us in the LGBTQ community.

All trials are trials for one’s life, just as all sentences are sentences of death; ...Society, as we have constituted it, will have no place for me, has none to offer; but Nature, whose sweet rains fall on unjust and just alike, will have clefts in the rocks where I may hide, and secret valleys in whose silence I may weep undisturbed. She will hang the night with stars so that I may walk abroad in the darkness without stumbling, and send the wind over my footprints so that none may track me to my hurt: she will cleanse me in great waters, and with bitter herbs make me whole.
