It seemed like there were too many back stories going on with the ex wife and then the mayors kid

I liked it...did not love it. There was a lot of back and forth which I am not a fan of.

I need more now!!! I seriously have a crush on Sy! I loved his bossy ways but also was so heartbroken for him and loved that he was such a great father. This story was the most heartwarming MC book I've read yet! Bring on more please!

The narration was good too!

I really really enjoyed this book. Cried some ugly tears while going back into Sy's past. With how Sy handled everything from his past it just made me love him even more! To continue to be there for and love a child that ends up not being yours while their life is literally fading away... That's a real man.

I went straight from Incandescent into Affliction with no break in between. Yes, it is that kind of series. Finish one, pick up the other, pray for quick release for the next.

In Incandescent we met Holly and Sy through Nix and Kadence. We knew there was something going on between them but didn’t get a clue as to what it was until near the end of the first book. Even then we didn’t know what Holly was going to do.

This line right here describes the Sy we first met perfectly.

“F***, this man is dangerous with his bad-boy attitude, his sexy as hell dirty mouth and his ability to take me on the highest of highs in less than a minute.”

Then we get to really know Sy. There is so much underneath hard exterior. Sy has been through hell and back, lived a nightmare that no one should have to live. There’s a reason behind his anger, his silence, his stay away attitude.

I think I loved Sy even more than I loved Nix. I say that now until I start reminiscing about Nix while I write my review for Incandescent.

I really liked Holly too. I enjoyed her as Kadence’s best friend in the first book but now we get to know her, watch her work through her recovery and her loss.

These two are just perfect for each other. Sy and his attitude and Holly with her sarcasm, she plays off him of him perfectly.

I hope the next book comes soon! I haven’t peeked ahead to see if she has told whose book it is going to be, but as much as I was hoping it would be Jesse’s at first, I’m now hoping it’s Beau’s. There’s something building there and I want to read it like yesterday.

Loved this book! Love the series! River is going on my cannot miss a book, favorite author list.

5 stars!

Thank you so much for my copy of Affliction!
