Darkened Wings is the first book in the Academy of the Ravens series. It's about Gwen, a raven shifter who shows up at the Academy of the Ravens. She has spent the last two years trying to avoid the system after the death of her parents and sees the Academy as a chance to change her circumstances for the better. Gwen is a great character. She is strong, yet vulnerable in some ways. She has been a sort of outcast most of her life and when she gets to the Academy of the Ravens it's not much different.

I really liked Darkened Wings. The plot was interesting and pulled me in. The characters stood out and had depth. I enjoyed the slow build. I just wish it was longer. It felt a little incomplete. I know it's the first book in the series, so of course there is more story to be told. This one just seemed to end rather quickly without much, if any, plot resolution. The relationship between Gwen and a romantic interest felt rushed in the end as well.

Overall, Darkened Wings is a good read. I look forward to reading more of this series and finding out what happens next.

The start of a new journey for Gwen.

This is a great read. The author has done a great job of writing about the many different characters. Having just arrived at the Academy, will this be a smooth journey or a journey full of many twists for Gwen?
I recommend giving this book a read.

We meet FMC Gwen, who is a Raven shifter, attending the Academy of the Ravens. With the loss of her parents, she is an orphan, having been on her own for a long time. When she gets to the Academy she hopes to find a place that she belongs. It doesn't work out that way for her, and while feeling an intense connection with three male raven shifters. She is confused, she's also dealing with mysteries, especially the one surrounding her parents. She's got to deal with so much, I hope that she eventually finds where she belongs.

The romance is definitely slow burn, but I am excited to see where it goes in the next books. This plot is a bit intense but I hope that well learn more in the future books too.
