This novella gives us an interesting sneak peak inside of Warners head. We get to see his relationship with his father and a better understanding of why he is the way he is. I highly recommend reading this if you are reading the shatter me series though it is not required, it just adds more depth to the books

I am starting to like Aaron! I am very scared to bc I am not liking this whole Reestablishment business but he's a misguided sweetheart. I hope we get him out of there in the future!

Decidedly meh.  I wasn't sure if a novella was supposed to have me on Warner's side, making him seem sympathetic and empathetic to Juliette.  There was like creepy obsessive stalker vibes from both of her love interests with insta-love on their part and it was just a bit too cringe for my tastes.  I'm semi interested in the world and plot of the overall story so I might read spoilers for the series but I do not plan to continue reading.

This is not to say that the writing is bad.  I think the way the author uses metaphor is very vibrant and evocative and honestly paints a picture with phrases and repetition.  I just cannot get over the juvenile relationship angst.  Oh well.  Not for me, but could be for thee.

An interesting insight into Warner.
I wish we had received more detail about him, his character, his morals, his past or even just more plot, but it was a nice in-between read between books one and two.
