i loved hearing from warner’s side of things. really good novella getting in to his mind as well as finding out what is happening now that juliette is somewhere else and getting our first idea of what his dad is like and his past.

Seeing Warner's side of the story is important. I still don't like him, but I don't think I'm supposed to at this point. I can see he's got issues, like most characters in this series. I just think he's still too obsessed with Juliette for me to reasonably call it "love." Not yet anyway. I'm still waiting for him to get his shit together and actually see past her lethal touch.

Nothing really happened, but it was an interesting character study on Warner, and I liked reading Juliette’s diary entries.

Decidedly meh.  I wasn't sure if a novella was supposed to have me on Warner's side, making him seem sympathetic and empathetic to Juliette.  There was like creepy obsessive stalker vibes from both of her love interests with insta-love on their part and it was just a bit too cringe for my tastes.  I'm semi interested in the world and plot of the overall story so I might read spoilers for the series but I do not plan to continue reading.

This is not to say that the writing is bad.  I think the way the author uses metaphor is very vibrant and evocative and honestly paints a picture with phrases and repetition.  I just cannot get over the juvenile relationship angst.  Oh well.  Not for me, but could be for thee.

This book really opened up my eyes to the lovely world of Aaron Warner. I especially loved the little moments that explained his routines and habits, something I always enjoy in books! I felt so emotional throughout this book and just experiencing the pain he was feeling was really relatable and heart aching. In chapter 16 where he
sets up a simulation, creates a duplication of himself and then simply makes his copy shoot him
, made me so so emotional. After 'Shatter Me', I still wasn't sold on this whole Aaron Warner Thing but after this short novella, I feel for him so deeply and am really interested to see where his plot line takes him. We're able to see that his infatuation with Juliette is something a lot deeper and personal, him
reading her journal was so interesting to see
and really allowed me to fall in love with Juliette in a new way as well. I really did like this book and I am now slightly amused to admit that I do see the whole Aaron Warner Thing and I also love him as deeply as any other reader.
