It took me a while to finish. It was my first book in that genre and style and I am not much into greek mythology. The book covers a big time span, so a lot is happening, which was at times a bit overwhelming. The characters are beautifully written and lovable and I did shed some tears at the end despite that the book didn’t catch me as much as I hoped for.

Song of Achilles is one of the most beautifully written books I have read in a long time.  Madeleine Miller is a master of retelling stories that have been told thousands of times in a new and interesting way.  The way that she writes the love between Patroclus and Achilles will leave readers breathless and with their hearts shattered, but without one ounce of regret for having read their story.  Miller gives the reader the story of the Iliad told from a perspective few have likely considered before and showcases the struggle between loving someone with your entire soul while wanting something that love cannot provide.  Though readers will likely be left in tears they will find that, despite everything, there is, in the words of Patroclus, "nothing to forgive."

My heart is broken, my head is pounding from crying. Beautifully written. I HATE Pyrrhus with a passion.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED. If I could give this book a million stars, I would. Seriously one of the best books I have read, and I would re-read again and again! Beautiful & heart wrenching.
