Sped up at the end, I wish the plot was like the last 100 pages the whole time!

Absolutely addictive. Fall of Ruin and Wrath is as seductive as it is mysterious.

Calista has survived life on the streets from childhood as an orphan to become a favorite amongst her Baron's companions. Using her uncanny gift of intuition and foresight, she secures safety in exchange for the information she hears as whispered thoughts or sees in dreams.

Fate though will not be deterred by the walls of the Baron's manor. A Prince, hungry for the pleasure that sustains his immortal being, is inexplicably and passionately drawn to Calista. Their sexual chemistry is made more intense by whip fast banter. JLA leaves a reader breathless with anticipation waiting for them to give into their wants.

This new world is fascinating. There is political intrigue, social commentary, and a history rooted in both fantasy and dystopian themes. I appreciate how, though Calsita currently lives a semi-protected life, she uses her experience of surviving poverty to be compassionate to all lives no .atter their social station and also hold critical opinions of the powers that rule her world.

And the sex in this book is so hot. The sensuality of the characters and their attraction is swoon worthy. Did I detect a reference to knotting? Please read and let me know if we're thinking the same thing.

A must-read for romantasy fans. A brilliant first book in a series. I'm invested in the characters & their world, and will eagerly await the next installments.

Thank you Goodreads & Bramble for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

This was an entertaining read but there were a lot of repeated phrases and paragraphs that said nothing. And for her supposed intuitive magical ability, she was pretty damn clueless the whole time.

I was surprised by this book! I’ve gotten a little disillusioned with JLA’s books as of late, especially some of the later FBAA books, but this was so refreshing. The characters and plot felt unique to her other stories, the banter and spice were solid, and the pacing felt mostly fine.

There were still some JLA-isms that bothered me (I’m a bit of a hater of modern slang in fantasy I know it’s irrational) and the main plot only really picked up towards the end, but that tension was SOLID.

This is not my favourite JLA book. I found the world building to be extremely confusing, right from the start, and I feel like not a lot of actual plot happens. And don’t take that to mean it’s full of smut; it’s not. It’s just that nothing is really happening at any point in time, and things are repetitive and redundant. I will still probably read the next one, tho, because I think it has potential.
