Quick read. Interesting concept but it was not spectacular in any way. I’m not sure I’ll remember it by next week.

This was a quick read with an intriguing storyline and a very likable protagonist! However, it felt like the author got bored and lost steam towards the end of the book. There was so much potential for more and it’s a fairly short book, so the author could’ve written another 5 chapters or so at the end. Instead she crams a months worth of storyline into 6 pages.

I really wanted to love this book. It had so much potential. It would've gotten a solid three stars if the ending hadn't completely fallen apart. I did enjoy it, but the ending had a series of stumbles that then just wandered off the map and didn't resolve anything. Several of the characters felt inconsistent--at times majorly so. And on top of that, the world building wasn't as clear as I would've liked. That said, I love Li's relationship with her sister Zo. I also liked her relationship with her friend Mirabae. The romantic relationship was fine, but didn't have much depth. Overall, I'm somewhat curious about what comes next, but I probably won't go looking for the next book.

This was a super quick read, it took me maybe.. 2 hours?? Anyways it's a pretty short book. So I really liked the idea of the book! I liked the beginning of it and it could've been really good, however it focused way too much on the romance. Like they get together pretty quick, and when there's anything dramatic it didn't really feel dramatic they didn't really have strong emotions. I really wanted to learn more about the Abdoloreans and I wanted them to feel more alien I guess?? Even though it said they were not human it just seemed to me like they were super humans or something?? Like in the description of the book it said: "They don't think with human minds or feel with human hearts." but they really acted like humans.. And I think that it was a rushed ending, not everything was resolved and I feel it could use more like another book and it seems like this is a standalone?? Some things I did like about the book was the diversity and the closeness of Li and her sister. Overall I wouldn't recommend this to someone but it was an okay read.

I really like fast paced books, but this book felt rushed more than fast paced. It was also a little predictable but overall it wasn’t horrible.
