Maybe my rating is a bit too harsh but this book really wasn’t working for me. The characters were way too unlikeable and the writing style was not a vibe. Half of it didn’t even make sense to me. The only thing that really made sense to me is the title of this book.

I’m struggling with a rating, it’s either 3 or 4 stars. I’m currently leaning towards 4.

One the one hand, the ending of this book feels a lot weaker than we were liars. The twists didn’t feel earned and there was no build up so there was a lot less suspense.

However. This book pulled me in instantly and gave me more in terms of the family dynamics and rich family politics that I liked in the other story. The island and the characters were given depth with all of their selfishness and frustrating flaws.

I’m left with a story that will stay on my mind, and one that I will reread. This writing style will not be for everyone, and some of the characters will be too insufferable for some readers. But for me it was intriguing and a solid read, and a good companion to we were liars.

This was so fun to read even though I never read the main book. Full of unreliability, tragedy, and rich people
