An old, old favourite. One of those books that I can escape into. A world of magic and wonders. A definite part of my childhood, I don’t know what more I can say about it. Love it.

When people said this one got rewritten because of the violence I thought they were stretching for a complaint, but wow this one was actually quite violent.
Definitely not in a way that calls for being rewritten though, it’s really quite minor stuff and standard for a children’s book, but it did throw me to see these usually wholesome characters getting into fights and hitting people.
Regardless, it’s still a fun and cute read and I wouldn’t change a single thing about it.

there’s just no other rating i could give for my favourite childhood book. i got the urge to read this last night as i haven’t read it in 5+ years. it brings me so much nostalgia and really gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling.

Read with the children. It's a bit more repetitive than I remember but still a great classic.

As an adult reading this book for the first time I was transported to an era of childhood adventures, innocence and friendship. Simply wonderful.
