This book swept me away into a mesmerizing retelling of the Arthurian legend, where Morgan le Fey takes center stage. Right from the start, I was captivated by the poignant backstory of our protagonist and the clever twists that breathed new life into the familiar tale. The slow-burn romance between Morgan and the enigmatic Kairos Draven had me positively giddy with anticipation. The sparkling banter between them added an extra layer of delight. The world-building transported me effortlessly into this enchanting realm, although there were instances of slightly overwhelming information towards the end. With its blend of betrayal, intrigue, and unexpected revelations, this book left me yearning for more. If you crave a spellbinding fantasy romance with rich characters and a fresh take on Arthurian lore, looking forward to the next one.

Thank you NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for this eCopy to review

I was a bit unsure at first about Queen of Roses, I love stories about King Arthur and found this quite different focussing on Morgan and including elves. After reading a few chapters though I was hooked, I really wanted to find out more about Morgan and Draven and was hoping they would get together, I don't want to spoil the story so you'll have to read it to find out.

The monster fae children in Meridium were truly terrifying! I thought all the characters were well developed including the minor ones, the locations were very atmospheric and the plot moves along nicely.

I'm looking forward to reading books 2 and 3

Title: Enthralling and Empowering: A Review of "Queen of Roses" by Briar Boleyn

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"Queen of Roses" by Briar Boleyn is a stunning, immersive read that blends breathtaking fantasy with poignant themes of identity and belonging. From the very first page, I was captivated by Morgan Pendragon’s journey of self-discovery as she navigates a world fraught with danger, temptation, and recurring shadows from her past.

Morgan is a compelling protagonist, expertly crafted with a rich inner life and a fierce spirit. Born into a life of duty yet yearning for freedom, her quest to reclaim her destiny is both thrilling and relatable. The dramatic tension between her obligations and her desires beautifully illustrates the struggles many individuals face in defining themselves outside societal expectations. As she embarks on a dangerous mission to find a legendary fae weapon, Morgan's character evolves in ways that are both profound and empowering.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of this journey is the intriguing cast of side characters that Morgan encounters. The band of outcasts she joins brings depth and vibrancy to the narrative, each contributing unique strengths and vulnerabilities. Among them is the dark, enigmatic warrior who stirs something deep within Morgan, adding an intoxicating layer of romance and tension that pulses through the storyline.

Briar Boleyn's world-building is exquisite, allowing readers to revel in the lush landscapes and rich lore of the fae kingdom—a realm teeming with secrets and peril. The stakes escalate as Morgan uncovers the dark truths about her heritage, and the foreshadowing of a power struggle that threatens to engulf the kingdom is both nail-biting and engaging. The author crafts an intricate web of lies and mysteries that keeps readers guessing, making "Queen of Roses" a truly page-turning experience.

With sharp, evocative prose, Boleyn does an amazing job of blending heart-pounding action with deeply emotional moments. The themes of sacrifice, love, and the quest for self-acceptance resonate throughout the novel, making it a beautifully layered story that leaves a lasting impact.

In conclusion, "Queen of Roses" is a captivating fantasy adventure that explores the complexities of love, loyalty, and the fight to reclaim one’s destiny. Briar Boleyn has crafted a tale that is rich with emotion and excitement, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to fans of fantasy and romance. I am incredibly grateful to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this outstanding arc; as I closed the book, I found myself yearning for more of Morgan’s journey—an indication of just how spellbinding this tale truly is!

Should not have trusted the reviews on this. It had an interesting, but very predictable plot. The ending though was a mess and was a cliffhanger, which gives me the rage. I’m all for a series of books but at least make each one have a cohesive story. I’ve got so many questions but I don’t care enough to read the rest now because I’m so annoyed!
