It was a kind of a good book? It is all about your purpose and your role in society. However, I did feel uncomfortable while reading a big part of it. I know that it is intentional and that Shiraha is supposed to make us feel uncomfortable, because he is so crazy, but it did not make this the best reading experience. The jury is still out on whether or not Keiko is just autistic and asexual, but the bigger point is that she found her place in the world, but that does not satisfy people around them. It would have been nice seeing this story entirely without Shiraha, it seems like there would have been other ways to evolve the situation into her being made less of a convenience store worker by people in the store and that leading her to a crisis of identity, but this is the way that the writer decided to go through with it and I did not enjoy it.

I can’t believe so many people voted this as a funny book??? This book is a wildly depressing commentary on the experience of an autistic woman trying to find  her place in society. I’m personally not a huge fan of books with chapters organized like this, so that also took me out of the story a lot. This is easy to read in one sitting, for people who like to do that.

good critique of both capitalism and the expectations in society of people, specifically women. i believe the main character to be autistic, too, so i like that she doesn’t force herself to follow everyone else’s ideas of society.

Really enjoyed this book. A great example of allowing people to live their life, if they're happy and not hurting anyone. No one should have to follow society's rules if they found a lifestyle that fits them. Kudos to Sayaka Murata for writing one of the most realistic, creepy antagonists ever.
