I think it’s interesting but it’s half describing hockey games and I don’t care so I won’t think about it or reread it. It does talk about the residential schools for indigenous kids in North America, which is always hard to read about, but it’s a matter of fact telling which was new to me and appreciated as different.

The author paints such a vivid picture of the horrifying events in the mc’s life and their impact. This story just grabbed my heart from the beginning and kept twisting the knife over and over throughout the book. I felt the abandonment, grief, fear, anger, loss with the character. Such a relevant read to better understand the impacts of genocide in Canada. Beautiful.
