I have to admit, my interest in the series declined after the first 3-4 books, as I'm not that interested in the American Revolution storyline and the vast number of supporting characters that have been introduced over the years, but still an entertaining read.

I absolutely love the Outlander series. I received this book as a Christmas present and it's taken me almost half the year to get through it. It starts soooo slow and continues to move slowly throughout the book. Almost did not finish just because I was tired of it. I'm hoping that book 10 will be better. Rating 2.5 because I loved being back with the characters.

Omg, she did it again

It took her long enough to publish this saga of the Fraser family and those on Fraser's Ridge, but the wait was well worth it. My heart went through ups and downs with this book nine. I just love Claire and Jamie's love for each other and their family. I was not expecting Frank to have a prominent influence on the Fraser household and their dealing with what is to happen in their future. William is in a quandary about his bio dad, and he is being drug into the mysterious disappearance of his Uncle Ben and his father.

Claire and Jamie are still recovering from the burning of their first home. The Revolutionary War is ticking up and Jamie has to navigate between the loyalist and the rebels. I just knew that my favorite Scott would be decimated but Claire is coming into the pinnacle of her power and refused to give up on the love of her life. My heart was full reading this scene and it brought me to tears. I wish all women could experience the beauty of love that Jamie and Clare have for each other.

I just hope that Diana does not wait so long for book 10.

NOTE: This book was read and listened to in conjunction with Audible.com. The narrator Davina Porter did an excellent job moving between characters and really made the story come to life.

I enjoyed the book. It was nice to be back in Jamie and Claire's world. That being said I did have some issues that took from my loving it.

1. It's been seven years since the last book? I can barely remember what happens in the series that I read once a year. Even with the t.v show as a reminder (and thank God for that) I had a difficult time remembering some things.

2. While I had no problems keeping motivated to finish this book I can see where others did have a problem. It's very slow and not much really happens. I cannot point to one moment in the book and say that it was my favorite moment. Nothing really stands out. There is one pivotal moment in the last 100 or so pages, but that's about it.

3. I didn't like that it ended with a cliff hanger for Lord Grey. I get why she did this- go seek the answers in the Lord Grey books. However, I'm not that invested in his story to go read his series so I guess he'll have to remain sitting on the boat for the rest of time in my mind. Unless, I change my mind but for right now I'm Outlander(ed) out.
