This is a strong undertaking to examine the lives and loves and wealth amassing of the sisters Jackie and Lee - father was Bouvier and stepfather was Auchincloss. Jackie's life is told to us from her childhood until her death at 1040 Fifth Ave NYC from lymphoma in her 60s. Lee's life is also here from her childhood as Jackie's younger sister to current time and she is divorced and lives in NYC and Paris and had two children. This is about their separate lives and their lives intertwined.
When Jackie died her sister was not in her Will tho her sisters children were beneficiaries. Sadly Lee's son Anthony died. Given what we know about Jackie K Onassis there would have been a solid reason for this.
Reading about their separate and intertwined lies I did not like either of these women yet I dont think I really got a knowing of J as well as a knowing of Lee.
This is a very well done biography

I feel like this book was trying to redress the balance between the two sisters and focus more on Lee Radziwill who was always in the shadow of her more famous sister. The book mentions repeatedly Lee's design skills and knowledge of art history (it was better than Jackie's you know!) and seems a bit desperately 'but look at meeee!' Ultimately both sisters come across as shallow, greedy and out for everything they could get. An easy read.

Certainly many women of my generation are obsessed, interested or even mildly curious about the Kennedy family - and especially Jackie. This book scratched my own Kennedy itch but also created a mild rash of wanting to know even more about more people. I love biographies and this one is interesting and insightful about Jackie and her sister Lee and the many characters in their orbit. You get a peek into their big lives and hints at their motivations from their own writings and words. The authors did a good job of relating the events and stories in parallel showing how both women were a product of their times and upbringing. And I love when personal pictures are included in the book.

** I received an advance copy from the publishers**. I’m fascinated with the Kennedys and this account was well researched enough to form what I would believe to be accurate reflections of these women without feeling gossipy or assuming. Some parts dragged in the beginning, but soon I couldn’t put it down.
