Interesting concept but lacked some character development. Not a story idea I have ever read/heard of before, kept my mind engaged.

Although Vyleta has tried to depict the atmosphere among the common people of Vienna under the Nazis, I am not so sure he succeeds. Dr. Beer seems to be one of the few characters who is aware of any threat. An aura of dread persists, but it seems more dependent upon my knowledge of coming events than on any feeling from the novel, although the novel is certainly bleak.

A doctor gets pulled into a mystery one he didn't want to be part of. All because he was treating a young lady in his apartment building and she started him off with the things she sees at night. The idea of the story was interesting but at times I was like ok WTH is happening. The story had too many things happening at once and none were related to each other. It was a good read but confusing.

Hitchcock's Rear Window set in Nazi Austria. Genius.

I enjoy his writing, but I was not as carried away by this as I was by Pavel & I. Something about the story just felt overly contrived.
