Carry On: The Rise and Fall of Simon Snow by Rainbow Rowell

I couldn't put this book down! I literally read until my eyes hurt too much to read on. I'd been waiting ages to read this, after first falling in love with Simon and Baz in Fangirl, and I was not disappointed! Although Carry On is very reminiscent of the Harry Potter series, Rainbow Rowell takes on magic in her own fun style, with new spells and monsters. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who's read Fangirl or anyone who misses that childhood dream of magic.

I’m always interested in the realm of published fanfic. I’m not a drarry girl so it makes sense this wasn’t me be all and end all. However, it’s refreshing to read a book with a magic system that makes sense. And has gay characters who aren’t punished for being gay. It’s trope and sometimes the writing is juvenile but on the whole it was fun. Also one of the main characters has the same name as me

4 Stars.

I know this is supposed to be the fan fiction story from Fan Girl, which I reread before starting this one. But I wanted it to be more serious, that's probably all on me. I couldn't get over the humdrum and other odd things ( singing spells ) when this book had the potential to be something amazing.

I did still love it all the same.

so at the beginning i was super confused because it kept mentioning things that had happened in the past and i had to keep double checking that this was the first book in the series and not a sequel, but once i got past that, i loved it.

it was slightly too long to read physically so i got the audiobook but i may go back and reread certain parts in the future.

here's hoping wayward sons isn't as sad as everyone's saying it is
