I rate this so highly for an audio version of the classic episodes because Caroline John's linking narration voice really worked for me. She kept the perfect tone throughout and let me "see" the action while listening to the soundtrack. The story itself loses points because the ending was a bit of a rushed let down after all the rather nicely paced build up. I was expecting one more layer of intrigue/betrayal or confession or even a wrap-up of what happens AFTER the last scene but, in true Who fashion; the Doctor dusts off his hands and dashes off. The 19 minutes of interview with Caroline at the end of the final disc was also quite fun. Despite the dated language ("heavies" used throughout for the bad-guy thugs, for example) and the abrupt ending, I'd recommend this as a better way to view this older episode from the end of Pertwee's first season. Liz Shaw is a smart companion and the overall effect as an audiobook is better than the TV show which can drag in spots.
