To me - After the Sudden Loss of their father, I really Liked how the Brothers were fighting for both mentally and for the rights to their fourth new found sibling. - i loved their family life and the Dynamic and i Adored Cam.....

The boats and Buisness was really Interseting and i was rooting fo the family....

Why the 3 stars??

Anna

I found her very grating to be honest - And the fact she was a case worker to this family, then got sexually involved with Cam while continuing to work the case i found a bit wrong - then throws in his face that how he see her.... she should have given the family to a colleage to work on... or kept in in her pants till after her evaluation.

Also the sudden love proclamations was a bit too much...

But the book was good - if it wasnt for the abouve it would have been a 4 star

"There is an awful lot of shouting, yelling, and fighting in this book, as well as a dearth of fluff and an overabundance of broken people. Not sure how I feel about that. "

I do, in fact, know how I feel about that now. Disappointed, because I can't finish this. I'm halfway through and I strongly dislike Cam, I find Anna totally unbelievable as a character, and I'm not at all enamored of Seth. I don't like this book. I don't like the pacing, I don't like the writing, I don't like the characters. About the only thing I'm interested in is the plot, but that's so slow in coming that it's not worth it to finish this.

This makes me sad, because I used to love Nora Roberts. Once upon a time, she was my go-to supermarket paperback pick. No more, I think. Not for a while anyway. It'll take some time to wash this bad taste out of my mouth.

See, Cam is written to be the ultimate bad-boy. He's coarse, over-sexed, violent, commitment-phobic. He also has a soft heart under all that throwing things, following you home, tossing you out of his bed and into the hall while you're still naked shit. He's totally devoted to his family, so that makes it okay, I guess? *rolls eyes*

Anna, the female lead, isn't much better. She wears stereotypical frumpy librarian clothes while at work as a social worker so she'll be "taken seriously," but drives a sports car. In her off time, though, she dresses like the stereotypical eighties sex-pot, because I guess that's what you do when you're a beautiful woman trying to have a professional career. Heaven forbid you actually dress well at your job. You might get fired for being too pretty. *rolls eyes more* Anna also has the dubious backstory of having been raped while watching her mother also be raped and murdered. After this trauma, instead of taking years to freak out and be afraid of men and sex, like literally every woman I know who was raped at a young age (by which I mean under fifteen), Anna at age twelve sleeps around with various other . . . people. I guess we're never told if they're male or female, or what age, but really now. *unimpressed face*

In between Cam being a raging, egotistical asshole and Anna being . . . whatever the hell she is . . . we get the plot. This revolves around the Quinn brothers trying to figure out what happened the night their father had his fatal car accident, who Seth really is, and ???? something else. What else I'm not sure, but it always felt like this nebulous third question was going to pop out of somewhere before the end of the book.

So, between my annoyance at the characters and the slow as molasses in January plot, we had the writing. Which was . . . I don't know if it was mediocre or bad or if it just was not the style I was expecting or what, but I hated the writing in this book. I've got no idea if Nora Roberts has always written like this and I only just realized I don't like it because it's been so long since I read her and my tastes have changed, or if I just subjected myself to the badness because I didn't know better, but wow.

Nope. I'm done. Which is sad, because I'd hoped to be sucked into a series, but instead I'm probably going off contemporary romance for a long while.

Oh the Quinn Brothers!
They just make my heart sing. Three men, Cam, Ethan and Phillip grew up together raised by their adoptive father Ray Quinn. Now grown men they have come back together when Ray has a terrible accident and makes his death bed wish that the brothers take care of Seth, the most recent boy Ray has taken in. Not able to go against Rays final wish they do as he asks. They move in to Ray's home and try to figure our how to come together to take care of this boy.

What is so loveable about the Quinn brothers, you ask? Well all three of them were raised on the wrong side of the tracks and had terrible upbringings until they got to Ray. They are rough and rugid and have overcome so many things in life. I'm swooning

This 1st book in the series is about Cam and of course his love interest. Who is probably not the person he should be interested in. wink wink

But all in all this book was enjoyable and a quick read and I am excited to read more about the Quinn brothers.

4.5 stars

One of my favorite series by Nora. I was really able to connect with the characters and felt like I knew them my self. Excellent series and I would recommend it.

Rereading this book was a pleasure. It's rare that the male protagonists sort of dominate the books in Roberts' trilogies but when they do she does a great job. The plot in this book is a little slow because the focus is in character growth and relationships. T being said I read it quickly because I wanted to see how each character would react to each situation and each other. Every character in this book has had to overcome some horrific experiences but they did it, despite battling lingering ghosts. The emotions and depth are incredible to read about. I also love the unashamed heat between Cam and Anna, it's appealing :) both of their relationships with Seth are really touching. Really the only issue I had with the book was Anna sleeping with someone connected to her case. I'm pretty sure that's not allowed at all... but I still love her and Cam!
