Very approachable and practical way to think about nurturing the right attributes in your kids while maintaining parental sanity. I'm not deeply informed about neuroscience, and this book gave just enough to help me understand the basics of mental development without drowning me in terminology.
Takes up to date research on how the brain works/develops in children and presents it in an accessible and practical guide for parents to help them better nurture emotionally integrated children in this broken world. Already starting to apply some of the strategies with my two year old and have been really pleased to see both how he’s responding and how I’m growing as a parent. The tables in the back are great references to learn how to apply these strategies to various age groups.
An absolutely phenomenal book. Immensely readable and applicable, an approachable style, with many examples and helpful diagrams. This book distills the ideas of ‘Mindsight’ and ‘Aware’ into extremely approachable concepts for parenting and raising resilient children, in the most user-friendly manner possible. The ‘Refrigerator sheet’ at the end of the book is a helpful guide to the concepts presented in a book in a helpful synopsis for when you need access to the concepts in a brief format. I can tell that these are concepts that I’ll be using both as a parent and as a mental health nurse in the years to come. Just a home-run of a mental health resource.

An absolute must-read for modern-day parents. One of the most practically applicable books on parents I have read and one clearly aimed at building loving relationships, thus, impacting future generations and the society as a whole.
The “acknowledgments” chapter made me shed a tear or two :) a wonderful book to dedicate to one’s kids

Definitely a must read for parents! My favorite parenting book I’ve read to date! I plan to reread this periodically as my daughter gets older so I can stay refreshed on the details of how to handle and help my child through each stage!

Understanding the brain, what our children need and what they are capable of, makes a huge difference in parenting through difficult situations. This book is very easy to read while being insightful, practical, and realistic. Highly recommended for all parents, especially with youngish kids.
