One of my middle school teachers read me this book. It's genuinely so heartbreaking. I'm not a huge fan of poetry but I believe this book should be required reading, it's super touching.

First, I absolutely love this cover. It is beautiful. I want it hanging on my wall. Second, the story is told in free verse poetry, which was unexpected. It was also beautiful. (And a very fast read) It is the story of a young Vietnamese girl whose family escaped the fall of Saigon and fled to America as refugees. It is both poignant and powerful, heartfelt and heart-wrenching. Recommended.

This book is written as a diary of poems. I enjoyed this book and how it was written.
