This took me a while to get through despite its pretty straightforward story. I've had this issue with Zoraida Cordova's YA books, as well; I think the way she writes just isn't for me. Something about the storytelling feels flat, like it's very much a "telling vs showing" situation. I also don't think she did enough with Brixie and Andie to justify their existence, but I suppose there's always future books.

The story is cute and unique, though, and I think it'll find its audience easily. I just don't think this author will ever be for me.
