It was a good story, but I would have enjoyed it more if it was condensed. It reminds me of romances with the misunderstanding trope. This gets very tiresome by volume 3.

Knowing Charlotte Turner-Smith’s life story and being interested in her and her work definitely made this book more enjoyable that it would have been. There are so many annoying male characters, and the main character Emmeline is painfully perfect. The plot is interesting if a bit repetitive and predictable.
