My mother first gave me this book to read when I was about 13 years old and although it didn't mean as much to me then as it does now I've always held this book as one of my favorites. Without giving anything away to those who have never read it and are looking at the reviews for a clue on whether or not they should I will simply say this..."Where do the mermaids stand?" my favorite story in the book:)

I adore all of Robert Fulghum's books of essays. It's been years now since I read this one, but I kept them around because they're always a delight to go back to.

3.5 stars. I stumbled across this book while going through things at my parent's house. It consists of a collection of short stories that primarily come from the author's experiences. Its funny in places and stories are grouped by subject matter though not in subsections. This is a good/decent choice for some light reading.

This book matters to me. It mattered 23 years ago, and it still matters now. I try to read it every few years.

I read this little book of essays when it was first published. Enjoyed reading it again. Remembered some of the stories, and of course liked some more than others. Still makes me smile.
