This book makes me regret giving any other book 5 stars before it

I enjoyed a lot of the book. I liked the politics and learning about the world. I didn’t love how the romance was mostly physical. I couldn’t tell you why they want to be together besides the fact that they are both hot and had political spying to do. I hope in the second book we see a real emotional connection develop between the two of them.

What an awesome story . I m so in love with the plot of A kiss of Iron. Kat and Bastian, oh my God, these two - I love them so much . What kat has to go through is terrifying. She couldn't live for her dreams, and her marriage was utter failure. She could only think of safety for her and for the people who care, so obedience was the only option. Bastian, on the other hand, never thought himself as a hero. He knew he was the villain of someone else's story. I want to know more about Bastian. There is more about him than what he told. There are surprising twists and events , hot and spicy moments, funny and lively chatters with friends , intriguing court politics, and even more in this amazing story. I am so excited to read A Touch of Poison.

I loved this book, and that ending! Wow. The ending had me on the edge of my seat, I had to get the second one right away.

This is a slow burn fantasy romance. I love the spy masters and the spying, the tension, the slow burn. It's all good stuff. But the worldbuilding and magic are also really good. You can ride giant cats instead of horses, there's politics and mystery and intrigue. Honestly this book hit exactly what I was craving. I really loved it.

Bailing at 55%. I just don't like Kat. She started off as this strong woman trying to hold her estate together and by the time she gets to the castle she is weak and submissive and just obeys all the evil men in her life. Also by this point I feel like she could trust Bastien with some truths but she just keeps lying and spying.

I can't believe I'm saying this because I almost never do but....
I think I might have to give this 5 stars. I think I've been evolved in my rating scale and while this is not ACOMAF or Fourth Wing, it is incredible and delicious in entirely different ways. The emotions this wrenched out of me... female rage was one of the tropes. But jokes on me be the rage was mine at the end of some of these chapters. This is extremely clever and well written.
Standing ovation from me. What a nice little surprise

This was so boring. Where was the plot? The romance was just…not it either.
