I really enjoyed this book but I probably wouldn’t reread it, hence why it doesn’t get 5 stars. It was a little predictable and YA felt like Percy Jackson writing level but I did have a fun time reading it, if anything for the blossoming love triangle before my eyes bc I love love triangles. Little Jemmmm I love him so much already but then I do love Will and his hard exterior , besides that the plot was pretty good and while I did start to suspect things before the characters I was still surprised a little bit at some things, or rather I’m still not trustworthy if everything. I can see the potential this series has especially with Tessa and her power so I’m excited

I gave this book a 3.5/5, the reason being I found it very similar to the Mortal Instruments and if I wasn't familiar with Cassandra Clare's writing, I wouldn't have bought the second book immediately.

Well another disappointing reread.
Ten years ago this would have been 5 stars and I would have sworn up and down that Will Herondale was the pinacle of a man short of Mr. Darcy.
I'm giving it a 3 because I am unsure if this book is actually dull, or if the pedestal of my memories propped this up far higher than it deserved.
Rereading old favorites to see if they hold up is really taking a lot of the shine out of my memories.
I won't be finishing the trilogy.

Suprisingly i love this book more than i thought i would. Since ive read the other shadowhunter series, it made reading this one so much more easier.
As much as im not a fan of YA books anymore, this had good writing and enough plot twists to keep me intrigued. And i love a good love triangle. Also, Tessa isn’t anything special as far as FMC’s go but i love Will and Jem
