Reading through this, I realize that the Binti series isn't really the sort of sci-fi story I'm in to. It was alright, I guess. I liked the first one but these last two leaned into the boring side a little too much. The beginning of the Night Masquerade took far too long and it consisted of a whole lot of Binti just repeating herself over and over again. Midway through, it just felt like it ended but then it kept going and going in a tired way.

I think the biggest problem is this book tries too hard to put too much into it while simultaneously not saying enough. It needed more pages to cover what it did, but the narrative also needed to get itself together.

I don't know. Overall, alright, I suppose, but I wouldn't actually recommend it to anyone.

I really love this world and these characters, and would like to hear more. But to quote Binti, "It was so ... anticlimactic." And like Binti, I'm not complaining, but I'm also not full of five-star praise. Some plot holes and inconsistencies and unanswered questions added to my disappointment with this series as a whole. Though I did enjoy the audiobook narration.

Binti learns to accept the various aspects of her identity. Okwu shows more personality. Third Fish has a cute baby. A very satisfying ending to this super creative space odyssey.

Like the others in the series, this story just felt like too much for a novella. I liked this one more, but the ending is strange and I don’t really understand the obsession with university as some sort of perfect society.

What a wonderful trilogy. Satisfying conclusion to an incredible work of speculative fiction.
Beautifully imagined. Clean prose. I think Okwu is one of my favorite characters in science fiction after reading this. I also quite enjoyed the way the author uses living ships in the final book. Original way to a key plot point. What a talented writer.

The end of the Binti trilogy is a beautiful roller coaster. It makes me want more of that world but also leaves me satisfied with the knowledge of where we leave these characters.
