Since this is a retelling, I did not expect it to be just like the original Beauty and The Beast fairytale. So...I guess I saved myself from "big disappointment" when I started the book with that in mind.
The plot is as simple as the map.
At chapter 10, I told myself that I'm going to drop this book if I see another "Of your own free will and volition".
But I didn't so I guess that's why I had to give it more than 2 stars.
It's not great but it's not bad either.
I stayed for Micah. That pup is adorable!
The story gets better from Chapter 23 onwards!

Ahhh….I loved this Beauty and the Beast retelling!! Adding Fae always makes things awesome!!
I loved the whole concept of how to break the spell and how it affects their lives. Plus the whole viewing things in a negative light concept. This was just so awesome!!! So much character growth! And Eliot and Gemma are so adorable!!
The hard cover underneath the book sleeve is FREAKING GORGEOUS!!!! I already loved the book sleeve cover, but when I took it off I freaked out. Not to mention that the next book is the same!! Moving on to that Cinderella retelling next!!!

This book was a perfect blend of fantasy and Regency period drama. I absolutely loved Tessonja's writing style and will definitely be checking out the rest of her works.
Moderate: Emotional abuse and Blood
Minor: Confinement, Grief, Death of parent, Toxic friendship, and Abandonment
