***WARNING*** There is animal abuse and death in this book, but it's entirely gratuitous and not at all necessary. 

I was honestly pretty disappointed by this. The 'Gets is a fascinating concept, and l really wish Nick Cutter had explored it more. It feels like he created so many threads but didn't explore the ones that would be the most interesting. 

The ending is confusing and, honestly, pretty strange. have to disagree with Clive Barker's quote on the front of the book; it was not "utterly terrifying" in the slightest. 

I'm reading The Troop next to give this author another chance, but l'll likely leave Nick Cutter's books behind if the patterns I saw in The Deep continue.
