Not really my genre, but I see why it has passed the test of time. I really just wanted to read it before my husband makes me go see the movie with him!

I felt like I should read this because it’s such a classic. I get why people love it but it wasn’t my favorite.

I loved how the book was written very conversationally. It was like he was sitting next to me telling me the story. Very cool.

A classic of fantasy for good reason. The Hobbit is well-written and introduces a lot of fantasy staples without being over the top or confusing. There is a lot of world in the few pages of this story. Excellent read, if you haven't read it I recommend it, double so if you haven't read much fantasy.

The prequel to Tolkein's quintessential high fantasy trilogy "The Lord of the Rings."

visionary. such an epic tale on adventure, friendship, personal struggles, obstacles, perseverance and growth. this was a light-hearted read as it was intended for children, however i think that teens and adults alike can still take the book's message in stride and apply it to their lives. personally, i got that we're all going to have one great journey, one that succeeds all the others and pushes past every single one our limits. we will lose a lot for sure but we'll win some too. the important thing is to look at fear straight in the eye and tell him no, he will not conquer you today. it will be hard but as evident of our good friend mr. baggins, the more you do it, the better you get at it. make friends on this journey, take in everything, never give up and don't forget who you are and where you came from.

"roads go ever ever on, under cloud and under star, yet feet that wandering have gone, turn at last to home afar."
