I looove this trilogie, I really loved the book, but the first half of the book was a bit too slow for me, it's actually at the 2 third of the book tha I started being really excited and not being abble to let go of it.
I'm so excited for the next one!

Amazing to re-read via audiobook - I wasn’t expecting the voices for the dragons though lol!!

I liked this book better than the first one (thank goodness), for I was a little worried that I'd just get two books in and then leave this series abandoned (like I did...the first time I read Eragon), but no...I'm in.

It is not a perfect book, but there is enough there (for a old dude like me...who's read stories similar to this...and can see the gems within THIS story, though a nineteen year old wrote it. There is enough here...that I believe I'm invested to continue to the end...even to Murtagh (which has been the goal, this second go around). Yay!

I really enjoyed the growth of Eragon and Saphira. That was my favourite storyline. The other two, were (while reading them...less interesting), but at the end, I now see their importance. So, yeah...push through, when you feel meh about certain things, but excited for other things.

The B-plot was about Eragon's nephew named Roran. At first, I was really frustrated that he kept bothering a really GOOD plot, with a lesser plot (in my mind), but it was good to see how he got the town moving in the right directions.

The C-plot was with Nasuda/Elya. Still not a fan of this story, but hopefully it will win me over...in time, too.

The growth of Eragon/Saphira under the tutelage of the Elves was frustrating, at first (for the reader and Eragon), but as we got to understand the reasons for the trials, and then the culmination...Wow! that was really cool (to experience).

The battle at the end was good, but the reveals near the end were "jaw dropping". Also, seeing a fan favourite at the end, was cool...too.

Eldest is definitely an improvement on Eragon, Paolini’s inclusion of chapters from Roran’s perspective really enhance the plot and were a great way to juxtapose the calm setting in which Eragon was tutored by Oromis. 2/5 books down until I read Murtagh!
