This book takes off in the last 25%, but the wind up is slow. The characterisation of Oliver was excellent, and I really enjoyed it, but I often just wanted to shake him and say “get on with it”, which, I suppose, was the point!!
Overall an excellent, easy, engaging read!

This.was a book I read.
That's about all I can say about it. The MC wasn't my vibe.

I was finally able to quiet my brain enough to finish this one. While not my favorite, this story of a lonely funeral home operator had its moments. One particular thing I loved was the gimmick of creating candles whose scents honored your loved ones. I don’t know if that’s a real thing, but it should be.

I loved this book. It was cute and funny and heartwarming. Oliver Clock was a stick in the mud guy running a funeral home somewhere in England. His 40th birthday was approaching and it seemed he was destined to reorder his spice rack. However, his life was due a change.
Thanks to netgalley for the ARC of this book.

Wow, I did not think that I was going to like this book as much as I did. It was one of the free selections for Prime members and I picked it up. It struck a chord in me though. I see a lot of myself in Oliver Clock, and was glad to see him make some positive changes in his life. I was sorry to see him go.

Compelling and lovely

So not my usual kind of book but I’m thrilled that I decided to give it a go. The story is heartwarming, sometimes amusing and very original

Despite this being a very sweet, easy to read book, I felt there was something missing.. but what? I couldn't put my finger on it!

Oliver was a loveable character, very quirky, and honestly, it was refreshing to read a story about a man battling with his problems in finding love and living his best life. The secondary characters were also well developed, and I adored the moment when Olivers mum was gifted a candle
