I absolutely flew through this book! I love the characters so much and how different they are from typical leads. The plot is unlike anything I’ve read and the unknown keeps me on edge. I immediately am jumping into book 2!

Whilst this is definitely a dark read, the hero isn't aware of the truth about Adeline and so I found this easier to read than some similar books. Knowing this truth, and having read the short prequel story, I also had some empathy for Lucien. In fact I almost wanted to shake Adeline for not making the situation clear but (a) that wouldn't have made for as good a read and (b) her repressive upbringing played into her lack of communication.

I loved the story and was hooked from the start, I hate the cliffhanger that we were left on but only because it means I have to wait and see how the story continues. The plot has enough of a touch on reality to be believable and is very well thought through. I found the author's writing style very easy to read, dialogue flowed and was natural and there was enough description of emotions/feelings to draw me into the book.

As I said, Lucien has been deceived so I actually cared for him as the hero, and even though Adeline has been controlled her entire life she still showed strength and courage. I also liked that she constantly questioned whether her feelings were genuine or not, especially given the stressful situation she was in.

I'm trying to avoid spoilers, which is difficult, so instead I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed the story and can't wait for the next instalment. I'm not normally a fan of cliffhanger books but this one is definitely worth it.

Keeping Her
Keep Me Series Book
by Angela Snyder
Narrated by Stephen Borne & Auri Alden

Captivating. Exciting! Dark! This first book in the Keep Me series is all that and more. This is my first audio by Angela Snyder, and I have fallen in love with her characters! Lucien is a dark, mysterious and dangerous man. Stemming from a horrible childhood, he deals with many idiosyncrasies. When Adeline comes to him, he is not ready for her. Innocent, scared, feisty and nothing like the others he has engaged with, his interest is piqued and he just can't get enough. But what will happen when she finds out exactly why she is with him? And will she want to leave? Will he be able to let her go? Is she in danger? And who is the real threat, the one who gave her up or Lucien? Fantastic characters, so many questions, engaging dialogue and a cliffhanger that has me wanting Saving Him as soon as possible! Snyder has a winning duet on her hands and I need it in my ears! Bring it on!

Stephen Borne and Auri Alden are our storytellers and what a story they tell! Borne gives us Lucien. Just enough dark to instill a little fear, yet a feeling of vulnerability that makes you love this crazy character. Alden is Adeline. Confused, scared, determined, she brings out all the feelings Adeline is going through and makes us feel them! Great casting for this first book and I can't wait to hear more from them.

Keeping Her was a wonderful book to read.
Imagine being sold by your fiance, so he could make money, and then the man you were sold to is unaware that you do not know why you were sold, and by whom.
Lucien is a man who carries demons from his past, and over the top OCD tendencies with regards to cleansing, touch, and people in general.
Adeline is a pawn in a mafia families world. She has been treated like a porcelain doll all her life, and locked in her gilded cage. Finally promised to a man her father trusts in order to produce a male heir for the mafia family. The fiance sells her to a man who only likes virgins, and wants them only once.
Lucien and Adeline's story unravels in this first book, similar to a beauty and the beast fairy tale.

Warning... it ends on a cliffhanger...

This didn't do it for me.  I didn't get chemistry from them at all.  Nothing happened that made me believe she would want to side with her captor.  And after him saying he wouldn't have taken her virginity had he known she wasn't there willingly, he figured it was ok to accept a blowjob from her???  AFTER he had beat her with his belt like the day before.  WTF?  Ick.  This whole book just gave me the ick.

I could see her developing feelings for Jax way more than Lucian.  He was actually nice to her and asked what she liked.  Which Lucien then pilfered and used to be nice to Adeline.  Half the time I was screaming "use your words" at both of them.  So much could have been fixed and/or avoided had people used their words.

Also, I am a seasoned dark romance reader.  I typically am all for them siding with the captor, especially when they are a deliciously broken man.  This just wasn't it for me.  That being said, I have started the second one to see if it could redeem this one.

Keeping Her by Angela Snyder is a captive romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Stephen Borne and Auri Aiden. This is the first book in the Keep Me series.

I want to start by saying I didn't know the series had a prequel so when I finished the audiobook I went and read it. The prequel is only 22 pages but it does give you insight into why Lucien is the way he is. It's not required to read before the series but I would recommend it since it is Free on Amazon.

This is the first book of Angela's that I have read and I look forward to reading more of her books. The book states its a dark romance but I didn't really think it was. I enjoyed that the relationship between Lucien and Adeline is slowly growing since she was taken against her will. I really liked that we got Lucien, Adeline, and Giovanni's points of view.

The book does end on a cliffhanger that left me wanting to dive into the next book to find out what happens next. I can't wait for Saving Him to be released on audio so I can get the rest of Lucien and Adeline's story.

Stephen and Auri did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
