This book had my attention and didn’t let it go. It is part of an interconnected series however I read it as a stand alone and it was perfect. This was an easy binge-able book.
If you are looking for a book with:

✅Alpha-MMC
✅Single mom-to-be
✅Found family
✅Motorcycle man who uses his connections for good

Ward - the MMC was alpha but caring and cinnamon-roll-esque all at the same time.

This was my first @laylafrostauthor book but it definitely wont be my last. Have you read any Layla Frost books? Which one should I read next?

I love a great MC read and when there is a twist that keeps it from being your typical MC read, I love it more. Wow, this book was fabulous.

Mac and Ward made my heart do a little pitter patter. He was so sweet yet sexy, attentive yet not smothering and full on bada$$. Everyone needs a Ward in their lives.

I’m rating this book a skosh under 4 stars. I usually avoid MC novels, but all told, this one wasn’t bad for the genre. There was some talk of bunnies and some dark elements but no other woman drama or other crazy things you see in a motorcycle club book. This book is really an alpha instalove damsel in distress trope though. So you need to be prepared for all the alpha behaviour, the high commitment of the MMC right away and his caretaking and overprotectiveness. Ward was into Mac right away and took care of her from the get go. He was a fantasy alpha and perfect in every way. At times I felt that he was too perfect and maybe a little codependent with his need to care for Mac and be involved in her life and pregnancy. It didn’t always make sense to me why he was so all in. Some of that might be that a lot of the scenes of them getting to know each other were ftb. He would bring her food and come hang out but we didn’t see those moments. The scene would end and he would be showing up for another dinner and hang. I wanted to see them hang, I wanted to be part of their dialogue. But honestly maybe there wasn’t any.
So they both had instalust, Ward was instantly all in but Mac took some times to get there. That made sense to me, she was pregnant and obviously hiding from the father. It wasn’t said and we weren’t given much of her backstory, but we were given enough to know she was keeping a big secret. It wasn't hard to put two and two together to get what that secret probably was, but I got a bit frustrated wanting the details.
However, their actual relationship and development was very low angst. Much of the story was very low key and focussed on Mac and Ward’s day to day life, together and apart. It dragged at times, it focussed too much on the food they were eating and not enough on the relationship they were developing. So when Ward started talking about marrying her I was a bit confused - like when did he get there?
But at the 70% point the story picked up and got exciting. We got to see Ward doing some dark stuff with his MC crew and then we got the big reveal of Mac’s secret and culmination of that. So that really saved this book for me and brought my rating higher. I love a good satisfying ending with action and comeuppance and a great epilogue.
So good book with two decent main characters, a lot of spice, not much relationship development but a great ending.
